My best party ever, thanks to Sergei Novikov

May 14, 2014, was our big day to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the founding of my small home-based company, Kadon Enterprises, Inc. (I design artistic geometric puzzles.) Close by was also my birthday, so we threw a big party in Pasadena, MD, with 42 guests and a special celebrity, Sergei Novikov, who entertained us with fabulous piano music all afternoon and into the night. You can hear excerpts and read all about this incredibly talented Russian-born composer on his website. You can see some photos of our ballroom (we built it because I was also a dance teacher) and Sergei at the piano here: http://www.gamepuzzles.com/2014party.pdf.
We bought that Yamaha keyboard just for this occasion at Sergei’s recommendation.

While Sergei would look more at home with a grand piano, he can do magic even with a modest keyboard, such as he uses on the road at art shows where I first met him where we both participate, and I was awed by his keyboard artistry, expressive musicality and versatility. My father was a classical concert pianist, so my well-trained ears had an instant appreciation for Sergei’s superlative mastery. And besides, he is the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet. He came to America for a better life. He speaks excellent English with just a touch of charming accent and is also a motivational public speaker. His goal is to make people happy, and he does. Five stars is not nearly enough.

Sergei has a fantastic repertoire of music, from classical to standards, movie themes and jazz, as well as his own excellent compositions. He tailored his program to our style and needs.

I booked him two years in advance for our once-in-a-lifetime event. And I’m already reserving him for an even bigger event in 2019.

Sergei Novikov, Amazing!!!

I first heard Sergei perform at a Christmas concert three years ago and I was astounded by his talent and the perfection of his music. He writes a lot of his own beautiful, relaxing music; the best I have ever heard. His CD's are played almost daily in our home.

Last year I was fortunate enough to have my husband book Sergei for a home concert for my birthday. It was an unforgettable day. Sergei played many different styles of piano music with warmth and professionalism. He also interacted with the crowd by offering a few sing-a-longs that were lots of fun.

When my husband retired we, once more, hired Sergei to play at an outdoor barbecue for 75 of our friends, family, and coworkers. He brought his own keyboard and provided lots of fun, upbeat entertainment. Sergei and his music definitely set the atmosphere for a memorable event.

Not only is Sergei incredibly talented but he is warm, kind, and personable. He will go above and beyond to make your event very special. You can't go wrong when hiring Sergei.

Amazing talent and great fun

Sergei played our 100 year old piano for our family Christmas party. He was prompt, professional and got everyone singing and dancing! His beautiful playing brought tears to my husband's families eyes because he reminded them of their grandfather's playing. It was an incredible night! He was the hit of the party and people are still raving days later. I would definitely recommend him for any event.

What's a House Concert?

A house concert is a concert in a living room. They're happening more frequently as artists find that 25 to 40 people can fit into a living room quite comfortably. There is much less overhead, no smoke, low or no amounts of alcohol to compete with, little advertising necessary and cover charges can be whatever the artist and presenter want.

Before you start to think that this is something that only amateurs do, think again - you'd be amazed at the quality and notoriety of artists that do or have done house concerts, even when they were filling clubs and getting airplay. Often artists who play house concerts will have a show at a coffeehouse or club the same week or weekend. Imagine seeing Dar Williams or Lyle Lovett in your living room the year before they were playing large halls. It happens.
